WOMEN RESEARCHING VIOLENCE

Network

WRV is a multidisciplinary network of women researchers with collective expertise in cities and violence. It was founded in Rio de Janiero in March 2020. We work predominantly in transatlantic settings, with concentrations in Brazil, Colombia, Peru, and Argentina. Our experience spans longitudes from San Francisco to Santiago de Chile and latitudes from Quito to Kampala.

Taken broadly, our research interests include the intersections of urban violence with crime and criminalisation, decolonialism, feminism, education, Black geographies, social movements, human rights, heritage, bureaucracy, and geopolitics. Together, we explore creative, practice-based research methods that include ethnographies, illustration, storytelling, documentation, and sensory investigation, alongside quantitative research methods and discourse analysis.
